Frequently Asked Questions
I
bet this is the worst you have ever seen?
I doubt it!
How long will you take?
That really all depends on the job! Sometimes it is just a matter of a BIG tidy and rearranging your possessions. Other jobs can be much more demanding! I can only estimate this when I have been able to see your requirement and can judge the extent of the challenge. Remember the estimate is free!
Where do you start?
Having discussed your requirements, we choose the area that we consider the most important to organise first.
I always start with a ‘litter pick’ and clear all the rubbish so we can then see exactly what needs to be done. Then we will carefully and logically move on until the job is completed.
Will you throw it all away?
No, I will only throw away the things that you want me to. We will of course discuss all the options but your decision is final.
How can I keep it like this?
This can be the tricky part for some people. I will do all I can and give you strategies to help you maintain calm and order.
What is the most common problem people have with organisation?
Lots of reasons: lack of time, lack of incentive, lots of good intentions,……
What about the rest of the house?
Well, once you have seen the results of the first area we tackle, we can then go on to discuss the options for the other areas you would like to improve.
What will happen to the things I discard?
Most of the clutter that comes out at the end of a decluttering session fall into three categories:
| • |
Rubbish in the bin or to the tip |
| • |
Recyclables such as paper, cardboard, glass, plastics etc which can go to the appropriate recycle bin. Also clothes and ornaments that can be taken to charity shops. |
| • |
Saleable items such as good clothes, furniture and antiques. With these I can advise you as to the best way to move them on. For example: dress exchanges, valuers and antique dealers or even car boot sales. |
